HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT
In 1997, under the leadership of Professor A.M.Shamsiev at the Department of Pediatric Hospital Surgery, courses of pediatric surgery and pediatric anesthesiology and resuscitation of the faculty of advanced training of doctors were organized by order of the rector of SamMI №147 dated June 17.

Since 2002, the duties of the head of the educational department have been assigned to the candidate of medical sciences, assistant, and since 2005, associate professor B.A. Yuldashev.

In 2005, a candidate of medical sciences, associate professor - J.A. Shamsiev was appointed to the position of the head of the course. In the early years of its formation, the course carried out 2.5-month improvement cycles, then 6-month specialization cycles in pediatric surgery and 2 or 1-month improvement cycles were added.
Since 2013, the courses of pediatric surgery and pediatric anesthesiology, and resuscitation have combined and formed the department of pediatric surgery, anesthesiology and resuscitation FPDO SamMI from this year to the present, the department is headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Shamsiev J.A.
Currently, the Department of Pediatric Surgery, Anesthesiology and Reanimatology employs Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Shamsiev Zh.A, Ph.D., Associate Professor Isakov A.M., Ph.D., Makhmudov Z M., assistants Daniyarov E.S., Babayarov K.R., Dusyarov J.T., and Unabaev J.O. The base of the department is currently located in the 2nd clinic of the Samarkand State Medical Institute.
The activities of the department are aimed at improving the knowledge of therapists of the Samarkand region and other areas, teaching new methods of research and treatment.
During the period of its existence, the staff of the department trained more than 2500 pediatric surgeons and 1500 pediatric anesthesiologists-resuscitators..Enlightenment and spirituality
Educational and spiritual work at the department is carried out according to the plan from the beginning of each academic year. The purpose of enlightenment and spirituality is to increase and enrich the ideological and political knowledge not only of the staff of the department, but also of every listener who comes to the department to improve their qualifications in order to keep abreast of events in our country and around the world. For this purpose, there is a time for briefing in each cycle. The historical monuments of Samarkand and the museum of our institute will be visited by listeners of each cycle, undergraduates, clinical residents.Discussed are news concerning the socio-economic, political activities of the country, normative legal documents: orders, decrees of the President, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The staff of the department takes an active part in the events held at the institute. In the regions and districts, the staff of the department (Babyarov K.R.) took an active part in the treatment and prevention of the Covid 19 pandemic.
EDUCATIONAL AND METHODOLOGICAL WORK
Educational and methodological work at the department is organized in accordance with the educational regulatory documents of the Republic of Uzbekistan:

The activities of the department are aimed at improving the knowledge of pediatric surgeons, pediatric anesthesiologists-resuscitators, pediatric urologists, neonatologists, general surgeons, general practitioners and emergency doctors, conducting primary specialization, teaching them new research methods and modern treatment standards. 2-clinic SamMI is equipped with modern diagnostic equipment and qualified specialists trained in Russia and abroad.
To improve the students of the FPDO in pediatric surgery of anesthesiology and resuscitation, there are training programs for 7 cycles for GP doctors, for general practitioners of general medical practice and polyclinics, related narrow specialists.
To train students, there is lecture material presented in the form of presentations, a plan of practical lessons, a list of test questions and practical skills.
Lectures are given by the head. Department, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor J.A Shamsiev. Practical and seminar classes are conducted by assistants Babayarov K.R., Daniyarov E.S., Isakov A.M., Makhmudov Z.M., Dusyarov J.T., and Unabaev J.O.

The students' knowledge is taken into account according to the rating system. Oral questioning and practical work of cadets carry out current control during classes.

RESEARCH WORK
In 2021, 7 employees worked at the department. Of these, 3 employees are doctors and candidates of medical sciences; 4 without degrees. The scientific potential of the department is 43%.
The scientific direction of the department is the treatment of congenital malformations of the chest and abdominal cavity, echinococcosis in children.
The faculty of the department in the 2020-2021 academic year published 89 scientific papers (5 educational and methodological recommendations, 4 computer certificates, 30 articles and 50 theses). Of the published works of Scopus and Web of Science - 6 articles, 11 articles and 36 abstracts in foreign and CIS publications, 9 articles and 13 abstracts in republican publications.
Employees of the department during the year participated in 6 international scientific conferences and were awarded certificates.
There are 12 clinical residents studying at the department. Clinical residents are engaged in research work in accordance with the scientific direction of the department.
The main scientific direction of the department is: problems of diagnosis, features of the clinical course and treatment of congenital malformations in children, echikonococcosis in children, chronic lung diseases, etc.
