  Clinical residency is part of a multi-level system of higher professional education for medical workers, which is the main type of postgraduate medical education, and its task is to train highly qualified specialists after 2 (3-4) years of clinical residency.

  The main goal of training in clinical residency is to prepare highly qualified personnel for independent work in health authorities and institutions (or in private practice). Thus, the main tasks of students are:

  • in-depth study of the methodological, clinical and medical-social foundations of medical sciences;
  • formation of skills and abilities of independent professional activity.

  Training of medical specialists in clinical residency is carried out at the clinical departments of the university on a full-time basis. The range of training specialties is determined by the future healthcare needs for specialists in certain specialties. With the opening of large specialized scientific and practical centers and the strengthening of the material and technical base of healthcare organizations, the need for specialists in the relevant profile has increased, which has served to expand the list of specialties for training in clinical residency.

  Currently, the organization and methodological support for the training of medical specialists in clinical residency is carried out in accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated December 18, 2009 No. 319, Appendix No. 2 to this resolution “Regulations on clinical residency”, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated July 12, 2012, No. 204 “On the requirements for educational programs in the system of advanced training and retraining of medical workers and the procedure for their approval,” order of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated October 25, 2012. Management and Organization of the activities of the advanced training system, approved by Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 303 dated November 4, 2013 No. 372 “On the improvement of regulatory documents for the training of specialists in clinical residency.”

  In 2019, the head of the residency department was Associate Professor F.S. Aripov, from 2019-2021. Associate Professor Khazratov A.I., from 2021-2023 Associate Professor Pulatov U.S., today the department is headed by Associate Professor Kamalov A.I.

  Every year, over 250 medical specialists from healthcare organizations and institutions are enrolled in clinical residency training at the university, including about 10% - at the expense of the republican budget. The number of specialists who undergo training on a paid basis has increased significantly. Over the past five years, the number of clinical residents has increased 3 times and this year reached 750 people who are being trained in 56 specialties at 56 clinical departments of the university.

  Since 2021, in accordance with the joint program in 7 areas, such as: gastroenterology, cardiac surgery, orthopedic dentistry, medical radiology, traumatology and orthopedics, urology and maxillofacial surgery, 27 clinical residents were accepted, who spent 1 year of their training in Nizhny Novgorod , and also received 2 educational documents on completion of a joint training program in clinical residency at the Volga Research Medical University.
