Care for the younger generation and the aspiration to bring up a healthy, well-rounded personality are among the defining features of the national character of the Uzbek people. For this reason, spiritual and educational work is one of the most important areas of activity of the Department of Radiation diagnostics and therapy.

  This work is carried out systematically and continuously on the basis of a long-term plan and monthly plans approved at the beginning of each academic year. Spiritual and educational work is coordinated and organised by the responsible lecturer Istodjon Rakhmatov, in cooperation with the faculty dean’s office and the university department for youth affairs and spiritual and educational work.

  Goals and objectives

• To foster in students respect for national and universal human values, devotion to the Motherland and a sense of civic responsibility.
• To integrate the teaching process with character education and make use of the educational potential of every class.
• To protect young people from ideological threats and to develop their independent and critical thinking skills.
• To raise students’ legal, political, environmental and information culture.
• To promote a healthy lifestyle and to organise students’ leisure time in a meaningful way.

  Main areas of activity

  The academic staff of the department works with students in the following areas:

• Studying and promoting the works, reports and speeches of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh. M. Mirziyoyev, the resolutions of the Oliy Majlis and the decrees and orders of the Cabinet of Ministers.
• Explaining to students the substance and outcomes of the constructive reforms being implemented in the country.
• Shaping a philosophy of healthy living among students.
• Raising the political and legal culture of students.
• Keeping students informed in a timely manner about social, political and cultural events in the country and worldwide.
• Establishing a healthy moral climate among students and preventing conflicts and negative phenomena.
• Organising student clubs and interest groups in line with the profile and specialisation of the institution, and arranging students’ leisure time effectively.
• Cultivating zero tolerance towards corruption and upholding the principles of academic integrity.
• Holding educational discussions on the institution of the family and on issues concerning women and young people.

• “Hour of Spirituality” sessions and curator hours in academic groups.
• Round tables, discussions and debates, spiritual and educational meetings.
• Meetings with figures of science, culture and the arts, veterans and leading specialists in the field.
• Educational visits to museums and historical and cultural monuments.
• Reading contests, poetry evenings, exhibitions, quizzes and intellectual games.
• Outreach through the department information board and social media.
• Visits to the student residence hall and individual work with students in need of social support.

  Outcomes

  As a result of the spiritual and educational work carried out by the department, students develop independent thinking, national self-awareness, professional responsibility, teamwork and social engagement. They take an active part in spiritual and educational competitions and events at university, city and national level.
