Research work of department is carried out in the scientific areas of the department "Development and implementation of a program for the integration of screening measures for tuberculosis and COVID-19 and prevention of tuberculosis in children, development and improvement of programs for the prevention of tuberculosis infection in children in foci of familial tuberculosis."

    At the Department of Phthisiology and Pulmonology work: PhD, Associate Professor - 1 and Ph.D. – 1. All employees of the department actively participate in the research work of the department and the institute. To date, 2 independent applicants are conducting scientific activities: Kim A.A. (DSc), Adjablaeva D.N. (PhD).

    Over the past 5 years, the staff of the department has published more than 400 scientific papers, including 4 textbooks, 5 monographs, 10 electronic programs, more than 300 scientific articles in foreign and local publications.

    The Department of Phthisiology and Pulmonology of Samarkand Medical University has established contacts with leading scientific institutions of Uzbekistan and abroad and conducts scientific research in cooperation with them. These are the departments of phthisiology of the Tashkent Medical Academy, the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute, the Yaroslavl State Medical University, the Astrakhan State Medical University, the Tajik State Medical University; Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Center for Phthisiology and Pulmonology of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Scientific and Practical Center "Mother and Child" of the Republic of Belarus, etc.

    On the basis of a regularly approved plan, the Department of Phthisiology and Pulmonology annually holds international webinars and round tables dedicated to solving urgent problems in the field of phthisiology, with the participation of leading foreign scientists. Including webinars held jointly in the speakership of the head. Department of Phthisiology of the Yaroslavl State Medical University, MD, Associate Professor Chelnokova O.G. on the topic "Actual aspects of latent tuberculosis infection", Ph.D. Scientific Secretary of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center "Mother and Child" of the Republic of Belarus Gorbach L.A. on the topic "Actual issues of the combined course of Covid-19 and tuberculosis", an online round table held jointly with the departments of phthisiology and pharmacology of the Smolensk Medical University.

    Employees of the department actively participate in republican and international scientific and practical conferences. In particular, the assistant of the department Adjablaeva D.N. 03/25/2021 participated in the International scientific and practical online conference "Innovative approach to the diagnosis, treatment and diagnosis of tuberculosis and non-specific pathology in adults and children" at the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute and took the honorable 1st place in the competition of young scientists, 06/06/2022 . at the V International Conference of Young Scientists "RHITORICA", dedicated to topical problems of phthisiology in Moscow, she was awarded a diploma of II degree. In the XIII All-Russian Scientific and Practical conference of young scientists with international participation dedicated to the World Tuberculosis Day "Fundamental and applied research in phthisiology: achievements and prospects" Moscow, March 23-24, 2023, D.N. Ajablayeva took the II place in the competition for the best oral report. On May 29, 2023, on the eve of the World Asthma and Allergy Day at the Samarkand State Medical University at the International Scientific and Practical Seminar "Asthma and Allergy: from innovation to practice", Head of the Department of Phthisiology and Pulmonology, Associate Professor Kim A.A. he made a report on "Topical issues of rational pharmacotherapy of allergic diseases".

    The results of the research work of the Department of Phthisiology and Pulmonology are widely used in the work of the Samarkand Regional Center for Phthisiology and Pulmonology, the Samarkand City TB Dispensary. Also, on March 24 of each year, the Department of Phthisiology and Pulmonology of the Samarkand Medical University, together with the Samarkand Regional Center for Phthisiology and Pulmonology, holds scientific and practical conferences dedicated to the International Day against Tuberculosis.
