Online broadcasting of the process of complex technological operations performed at the Department of Neurosurgery of Samarkand State Medical University launched in classrooms

On October 27, 2023, students of groups 616-619 of the 1st Medical Faculty, who came to the Department of Neurosurgery of Samarkand State Medical University to study this discipline, were enabled online broadcasting of the process of complex high-tech operations performed in the Department of Neurosurgery through a video camera in 4K format in the classrooms.

The auditoriums of the Department of Neurosurgery are equipped with Smart monitors, examples of various neurosurgical diseases and surgical procedures are shown on video.  Students can also directly observe the complex high-tech surgical procedures performed in the Department of Neurosurgery.  Due to the large number of students entering the department, the ability for all students to observe the surgical process simultaneously, in terms of maintaining sterility and aerodynamics in the operating room, is relatively limited. At the same time, due to the narrowness and depth of the operating zone, students directly observing the surgical process have difficulty in internalizing the essence of surgery.  With this in mind, the images captured by the 4K video camera during the surgeries were transmitted to monitors in the classrooms.  This approach allowed all students to directly observe all stages of complex high-tech operations from beginning to end.  Head of the department M.A.Aliyev told and gave students understanding on surgical intervention.  This technology aroused great interest among the students, which resulted in a discussion about the work.

The advantage of such online broadcasting (live surgery) is that all students can learn by watching the operation at the same time, asking questions directly during the operation itself, they will be able to get an answer. Even though the operating area is narrow and deep, this will not prevent them from practicing their knowledge and having the same quality view as the operator.  In the course of the educational process at the Department of Neurosurgery, it is planned to continue the experience of online broadcasting of complex high-tech operations performed at the department in the classrooms where classes are held, and to consolidate the knowledge of students with the help of this technology.
