II Uzbek-Turkish Education Forum in Samarkand

  The II Uzbek-Turkish Education Forum was held in Samarkand on 13-14 November. The event was attended by the leadership of the Higher Education Council of Turkey, rectors and vice-rectors of more than 40 prestigious universities in Turkey, as well as rectors of more than 50 higher education institutions in Uzbekistan. The aim of the forum was to exchange views on topical issues such as joint implementation of fundamental, applied and innovative projects in the fields of energy, chemical technologies, engineering, transport and logistics, architecture, construction and medicine.

  After the plenary session, the work of the Forum continued at the breakout sessions. During the plenary sessions of the II Uzbek-Turkish Education Forum, a number of issues of cooperation in B2B format were discussed with the participation of rectors of more than 60 higher education institutions of the two countries. Following the talks, documents were signed on strengthening cooperation between the universities of the two countries in educational and scientific spheres, training of highly qualified teachers and staff, exchange of professors, masters and students, sending teachers for short-term internships, implementation of joint scientific projects, establishment of mutual cooperation in the field of engineering and technology.

  Rector of Samarkand State Medical University Zhasur Rizaev spoke at the section "Development of scientific and technical cooperation in the field of health care, pharmacy and biotechnology", telling the participants about the experience gained in the implementation of joint scientific and educational projects in the field of training for practical health care.

  The heads of Turkish universities who took part in the Forum expressed great interest in co-operation with Samarkand State Medical University. Within the framework of the II Educational Forum memorandums of co-operation were signed between Samarkand State Medical University and a number of leading universities of the Republic of Turkey, in particular with EGE University and SIIRT University. The parties also agreed to intensify contacts and realise mutual educational and scientific projects.
