Delegation of Ataturk University (Turkey) visited Samarkand State Medical University.  Rector of Ataturk University Professor Ömer COMAKLI, Vice Rector of the University Professor Medine GULLUCE, Head of International Department Professor Taskin OZTAS and Director of Eurasian Silk Road Research Center Professor Ali Caglar GULLUCE were welcomed by Rector of Samarkand State Medical University Professor Jasur Rizaev.

  Thus, the purpose of the visit was to establish cooperation between the two higher educational institutions, organization of joint projects using modern technologies and methods in the field of practical medicine and education, and a number of agreements were reached during the meeting.

  In particular, SamSMU and Ataturk University signed a memorandum on establishing cooperation in the spheres of sports medicine and transplantology, professional development and scientific research, as well as academic mobility.  In the future it is planned to develop cooperation of 3 scientific-practical centers and 1 research institute at SamSMU with clinics of Ataturk University.

  For the record, it should be noted that Ataturk University is one of the oldest universities in Turkey, founded in 1957.  The university is ranked among the top 500 universities in the world and among the top ten in the national ranking.  The university has more than 480,000 students and the educational process meet world standards.
