On June 2-3, 2023, international scientific and practical conference on the topic "Actual issues of biology and parasitology" was held by the Samarkand State Medical University, the Research Institute of Microbiology, Virology, Infectious and Parasitic Diseases named after L.M. Isayev and the Tajik State Medical University named after Abu Ali Ibn Sina (Dushanbe, Tajikistan) in the ancient and always young city Samarkand. The International Scientific and Practical Conference was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Research Institute of Microbiology, Virology, Infectious and Parasitic Diseases named after L.M. Isayev.
The purpose of the conference was to discuss the issues of detection and treatment of infectious and parasitic diseases, which are a universal human problem. According to the World Health Organization, every year 10 million people die from cardiovascular diseases, and more than 17 million people die from infectious and parasitic diseases.
The conference was attended by specialists from medical universities and research centers from more than 10 countries, including the Republic of Korea, Iran, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
Research Institute named after L.M. Isaev was founded in 1923 in Samarkand and it is an institution that has made a significant contribution to the treatment of infectious and parasitic diseases in our republic and region.
Its founder was a well-known doctor and scientist, laureate of the State Prize, Professor L.M. Isayev (1886-1964). From the first days of the institute's activity, a deep and comprehensive study of parasitic and tropical diseases, scientific, organizational and methodological struggle against malaria, guinea worm, rabies and other diseases was carried out here. Up to date, the experience, principles and approaches developed by this well-known center are widely used in the world of practical healthcare.
The participants of the international conference made presentations and discussed new approaches to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of parasitic diseases, modern methods of treating of viral infections, current problems of infectious diseases, infections of Covid-19 and AIDS, clinical aspects, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of infectious diseases, veterinary parasitology .
At the conference the Rector of Samarkand State Medical University and the Director of the Scientific Research Institute of Microbiology, Virology, Infectious and Parasitic Diseases named after L.M. Isayev presented a scientific publication dedicated to the problems of parasitic diseases in Uzbekistan and the history of fighting against them. The publication is intended for healthcare organizers, epidemiologists, parasitologists, infectious disease specialists, pediatricians, teachers and students of higher educational institutions and a wide range of people interested in all these issues.
