April 9 is annually marked in the country as the birthday of the great statesman and military leader Sohibkiran Amir Timur. And on the eve of this significant date, a number of events were held at Samarkand State Medical University.

  The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine No.2 together with tutors and students visited historical monuments of Samarkand and honoured the memory of our great ancestor. The excursion to Guri-Amir mausoleum was also conducted by R.K.Karimova, tutor of the Faculty of Pediatrics, together with the students.

  The Faculty of Medical Prevention, Public Health and Medical Biology together with the Department of Pathological Physiology organised a visit to a number of historical monuments in the city related to the activities of Amir Timur and the Timurid dynasty. A round-table discussion on instilling reading culture for the students of the Faculty was also held in the student dormitory No.3.
