The priority of the reform of practical health care in the republic is to further improve the functioning of its primary parts. Family doctors, their education and advanced training play a special role here.

  On the initiative of the Samarkand State Medical Institute, a major refurbishment of the Department of General Practice and Family Medicine of the Faculty of Postgraduate Education (FPE), which is based at Samarkand Family Polyclinic No. 3, has been completed. The majority of doctors from family polyclinics in our and neighbouring regions of the country raise their qualifications in this department.

  At the opening ceremony of the department Rector of the institute Mr Zhasur Rizaev said that strengthening of material-technical base and quality improvement of the educational process is a priority goal. The staff and students who spoke thanked the management of the institute for the conditions created.

  Simulation room for information resources and teaching practical skills, a cabinet-model of the workplace of the family doctor, rooms for teachers, classrooms and a large conference room have been formed in the department.

  It should be noted that the staff of the department work closely with primary care units in the local health care system, providing ongoing advisory support to family physicians and regularly organising clinical reviews of the most complex patients.
