Educational and methodical work of the department

  The department trains students of 1,2,3 courses of the Faculty of Traditional Medicine under the programs "Introduction to Medicine", "Philosophy of Traditional Medicine", "Canons of Medical Science Ibn Sino", "Phytotherapy", "Physiotherapy", "Manual Therapy", "Kinesiology" ”, “Reflexology”, “Pathological syndromes in folk medicine”, “Therapeutic massage”, “Therapeutic exercise”; 4th year of the Faculty of Dentistry - "Rehabilitology", 3rd year of the medical and medical-pedagogical faculties under the program "Rehabilitology, sports medicine", as well as 6th year of the pediatric, medical and medical-pedagogical faculties under the program "Rehabilitology, sports medicine". The department trains highly qualified specialists in the direction of magistracy and clinical residency.

  Training is conducted according to the following approved documents for each course and faculty:

– Qualification characteristics;

- State standard;

- Academic plan;

- Educational work program;

  Educational technologies include:

- Changes based on Order No. 80 of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan;

- approved diagnostic standards;

- international recommendations;

- modern educational technologies (graphic organizers, case technology and project method).

  During training, the following technical means are available:

  A telecommunications system has been established, video films, presentations, multimedia programs, lectures and practical classes are shown using TVs connected to a central computer. There is a single bank of scanned images designed for a single curriculum-based learning and corresponding to all curricula.

  Department Library:

  • The library has more than 50 titles of educational literature in English, Uzbek and Russian.
  • The electronic library includes textbooks, atlases, teaching aids, teaching aids, etc.
  •   Below is the structure of the Department of Physiotherapy at the Samarkand Regional Rehabilitation Hospital, which has been headed by the teacher of the department Ravshanova M.F. since June 2021. In the department of physiotherapy, students have the opportunity to develop practical skills and consolidate their theoretical knowledge.


    A separate place in the organization of medical and educational work has a hall of physiotherapy exercises, equipped with modern simulators.

      The department has all the conditions for conducting therapeutic exercises with massage techniques for patients at the modern level. Therapeutic gymnastics procedures are carried out in the gymnastics hall, individually and in group forms. For procedures, the exercise therapy room is equipped with modern simulators and gymnastic equipment such as:

    • power multifunctional simulator

    • bicycle ergometers

    •Treadmills

    • chair for traction of the cervical spine

    • arc massager

    • simulator for abdominal muscles, etc.

      Therapeutic gymnastics is carried out both directly in the exercise therapy room, and on the ground at the patient's bedside. So, for example, for neurological patients, rehabilitation of patients with ischemic stroke, with degenerative-dystrophic lesions of the spine, radiculitis, vegetative-vascular dystonia, neuritis of the facial nerve, trigeminal nerve, etc.. In pediatric outpatients, elements of physical rehabilitation are widely used for such diseases as cerebral palsy, the consequences of encephalitis, myopathies, hereditary pathologies of the nervous system (in individual and small group forms), the consequences of polyneuritis and other flaccid paralysis.

      Today, the hall of physiotherapy exercises is a modern educational, scientific and medical base of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine and Traditional Medicine. A large amount of medical work is carried out in the exercise therapy room. More than 5,000 units of therapeutic gymnastics procedures are performed annually on average. Doctors of the cabinet, together with the staff of the department, also provide advisory and methodological assistance to other medical institutions in the region.

      Today, Uzbekistan is one of the few countries where traditional medicine is included in the curriculum of specialized higher educational institutions. Since 2020 the corresponding educational direction has been opened in the Samarkand State Medical Institute. At the Department of Medical Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine and Traditional Medicine, training of specialists in alternative medicine is also widely conducted. Traditional medicine is a vast area of knowledge and practical experience accumulated by mankind, including almost 40 treatment methods, many of which were reflected in the preparation of students at this department. These are such techniques as acupuncture, hirudotherapy, herbal medicine, hijama and etc.
