The first professor of the department was a graduate of St. Petersburg University , professor Nikolay Alekseevich Merkulovich. At the end of 1930, the first director of the Department of Medical Biology was appointed by Professor PM Led by Faktorivych. From 1943 to 1945, PMFaktorivych again served as director. From 1947 to 1974, professor AI Shumeyka worked as the head of the department, and from 1974 to 1977, associate professor MMMalikov worked.

Mukhitdinov Shavkat Mukhamedjanovich was born in 1948 in Shafrikon district of Bukhara region. After graduating from the institute, he served in the Soviet army. In 1973-1976, he studied at the graduate school. In June 1977, at the Institute of Zoology and Parasitology, he defended his Ph.D. From 1977 to the present, he has been working at the Samarkand State Medical Institute. First assistant, then senior teacher of the department and in 2002 has been working as an associate professor of the department. To date, more than 100 scientific articles and 2 patents have been published.

From 2020 to 2022, Aliyev Dilmurod Davronovich was the head of the Department of Medical Biology and Genetics. Abdumuminova RN successfully defended her PhD in 2020 and is the author of more than 30 scientific articles, 4 methodological manuals and recommendations, 3 monographs, 1 training manual.
