History of the department

  The Department of Foreign Languages at Samarkand State Medical University was founded in 1946, the first Head of the Department was Prof. O.K.Shmit worked during 1946-1949 years. Further, N.G.Shvetsova in 1949-1951 years, O.A.Lapshina in 1951-1952, V.F.Gorbich in 1952-1982professors regulated Department of actively. According to the following years 1982 and 2022 the Department of Languages was managed by professors, associate professors and candidates of science:

  • In 1982-1992, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor A.E. Mamatov.
  • In 1993-1998, Candidate Of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor U.U. Usmanov.
  • In 1998-2000, Professor, Candidate of Philological Sciences M.A. Kholbekov.
  • In 2000-2006, senior teacher H.T.Umarov.
  • In 2006-2011, senior teacher G.D. Kuldosheva
  • In 2011-2014, Candidate of Philological Sciences U.A.Safarova.
  • In 2015-2019, Candidate of Philological Sciences D.Kh.Babaeva.
  • In 2019-2020, Z.Sh.Nuritdinova
  • In 2020 – 2022, Doctor of Philological Sciences U.A. Safarova.
  • Since 2022, Ph.D, S.K.Yorova

  In November 2012, the Department of Foreign Languages and Latin was merged with the Department of Russian Language, Uzbek Language, Pedagogy and Psychology and renamed as the Department of Languages, Pedagogy and Psychology.

  In 2017, the Department of Foreign Languages and Latin were separated from the Department of Russian, Uzbek, Pedagogy and Psychology, and the Department was renamed as the Department of Languages.

  In September 2020 till 2022, DSc, U.A. Safarova was elected as the Head of the Department of Language.

  In November 2022, Doctor of Philosophy in Philological Sciences Ph.D, Yorova Sayyora Karimovna was elected as the Head of the Department of Languages and has been working in this Department. PhD, Yorova Sayyora Karimovna defended her PhD dissertation on the topic of “Sociocultural pecularities of English and Uzbek medical speech” in 2023 and received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Philological Sciences (PhD).  Yorova S.K. has got International Certificate C1 from the plarform of TESOL & TEFL Certificate Highfield Qualifications Level 5 Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Languages, TEFL Institute, Ireland in 2023 year. In 2022 she got CEFR National Certificate level B2. She worked as the assistant of the Department of Languages for 10 years and also was responsible for the scientific process of the Department, she conducts practical classes in English for Medical Purposes and Latin Language and Medical terminology for students of  International Department. PhD, Yorova S.K. has been teaching English for more than 25 years and is the author of more than 60 scientific articles and theses , 2 study guides “English” for Medical Students ” in 2021 and “English - French - Russian Conversation book” in 2023 were approved and published by the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of Uzbekistan. For 5 years she has been conducting practical classes in the Latin language and medical terminology with students of the International Education program of the Faculty of MD. Currently Yorova Sayora Karimovna working on doctoral work (DSc) on the topic of: “Pragmatic and linguistic characteristics of medical discourse in English and Uzbek languages”

  The main tasks of the Department are to conduct practical classes in English and Latin Medical Terminology of the General Medicine, Pediatrics, Stomatology, Medical Pedagogy, Medical Biology, Medical Prophylaxis, Folk Medicine, Pharmacy, High Qualified Nurse and International Faculties. 

  And also conduction of educational, spiritual and educational work among students according to a continuously drawn up and approved plan.   The works of the Department of Languages with students and faculties include:

- Study of Anatomical, Clinical and Prescription terminology, which are necessary for the future doctor.

- Study of English medical terminology, since information about medicine is given in English.

- Conducting Olympiads in Latin and English Languages at the International Level.

  Below are professors and teachers of the Department of Languages who work in all areas of the faculty:

  Shodikulova Aziza Zikriyaevna – Doctor of Philosophy in Philological Sciences, an English teacher at the Department of Languages, she has been working as a teacher at the Department for 8 years, conducts practice in English, is the author of more than 40 scientific articles and theses. In 2022, Aziza Zikiryaevna Shodikulova defended her PhD thesis on the topic “Cognitive-discursive aspects of the expression of metonymy in a media text” and received the academic degree of Candidate of Philological Sciences. The Study Guide “English language”, a monograph on the topic “Metonymy” and educational and methodological recommendations on the topic “Levels of adjectives”. She has got International Certificate C1 from the plarform of TESOL & TEFL Certificate Highfield Qualifications Level 5 Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Languages, TEFL Institute, Ireland in 2023 year.

  Makhmudov Zafar Mardonovich assistant, Latin teacher at the Department of Languages , worked for 3 years as responsible for the educational process of the department, is currently responsible for spiritual and educational work at the department, conducts practical classes in the Latin language and medical terminology, has been teaching this subject for more than 24 years, is the author of more than 35 scientific articles and theses, “Latin-Uzbek-Russian Dictionary of the Most Important Terms , used in medicine" was approved and published by the Ministry of Health in 2012, "Methodological complex on the Latin language and medical terminology for medical colleges" in 2017 was published by the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education, in 2022 work began on a candidate's dissertation on the topic "Improving the use of interactive methods in teaching students Latin terms (using examples of medical terminology)", textbook "Latin language and the basics of medical and pharmaceutical terminology", and 4 educational and methodological recommendations on topics: 1) “Introduction to pharmaceutical terminology. Scientific and trivial names of medicinal substances. Significant derivational suffixes and terms used in creating drug names. Dosage forms”, 2) “Verb, its grammatical categories. Imperative mood. Standard recipe formulations with verbs”, 3) “ Recipe, its structure. Rules for writing recipes”, 4) “ Adjective, grammatical categories of adjectives, division into groups, generic suffixes, dictionary form. Definition of adjective stems. Adjectives 1-2 groups” were published in 2023.

  Fomina Mayde Anatolyevna assistant at the Department of Languages, she has been working as a senior teacher at the Department for 44 years, conducts practical classes in the Latin language and medical terminology. She is the author of more than 40 scientific articles and theses, “Latin-Uzbek-Russian Dictionary” was approved and published by Ministry of Health in 2010, a textbook on the Latin language for students of the International Faculties is ready for publication. She has a Certificate B2 level from CEFR National Exam in 2022.

  Beknazarova Mokhiya Kenjaevna assistant, Latin teacher at the Department of Languages, during 2019-2022.she worked as responsible for the educational work of the department, conducts practical classes in the Latin language and medical terminology , has been teaching this subject for more than 28 years, author of more than 27 scientific articles and theses, author of the monograph “ G'arb - Sharq” devoni “dedicated to the 250th anniversary of I.V.Gyote.

  Aytmuratova Perkhan Genjebaevna is an assistant, Latin teacher at the Department of Languages, for 16 years. She conducts practical classes in the Latin language and medical terminology, author of more than 40 scientific articles and theses, a textbook on the topic “Foreign language for dentists” was approved and published by the Ministry of Health in 2022, a textbook on Latin for students of Higher Qualified Nurse faculty is ready for publication. She has got B1 certificate level from CEFR National Exam. (Deutsch)

  Sharipov Bobur Salimovich is an assistant, Latin teacher at the Department of Languages, he has been working for 6 years. Sharipov B.S. conducts practical classes in the Latin language and medical terminology, the author of more than 35 scientific articles and theses, a textbook on the topic “Foreign language for dentists” was approved and published by the Ministry of Health in 2022, a textbook on the Latin language for students for Higher Qualified Nurse faculty is ready for publication. He has got B1 certificate level from CEFR National Exam. (French).

  Olimzoda Parvina   an assistant, an English teacher at the Department of Languages,  scientific secretary of the Medical-Pedagogical Faculty has the most active role in working with students. She has 7 years of teaching experience and actively works in the field of the English language. Parvina Olimzoda has a Certificate C1 from International Exam Aptis and from National CEFR C1 level in 2022 year. She is the author of more than 20 scientific articles and theses.

  Makhmudova Sabina Avazjonovna a trainee assistant, teacher of English and Latin languages and medical terminology, is the author of more than 20 scientific articles. S.A.Makhmudova defended her PhD dissertation on the topic “Representation of the frame model “Empire of Britain” in the novels of J.Aldridge ” in 2023 and is currently conducting practical classes with students of the International Educational program. She has a Webster University, School of education, Teaching English as a Foreign Languages, Graduation of C1 level International Certificate Diploma.

  Ibragimova Dilbar Sadullaevna, an assistant of the Department of Languages, has been working as an assistant of the Department for 23 years, conducts practical training on foreign language in medicine, author of more than 45 scientific articles and theses. She has got an International C1 level certificate TESOL & TEFL Certificate Highfield Qualifications Level 5 Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Languages, TEFL Institute, Ireland, 2023.

  Esanova Maftuna Bahodirovna a trainee assistant, Latin teacher at Department of Languages, a for 4 year experience, conducts practical classes in the Latin language and medical terminology, author of more than 14 scientific articles and theses. She has a Certificate B2 level from CEFR National Exam in 2023.

  Buriev Dilmurod Arzimurodovich is a trainee assistant, Latin teacher at the Department of Languages for 4 years, conducts practical classes in the Latin language and medical terminology, and is the author of more than 15 scientific articles and theses. He has got a Certificate B1 level from CEFR National Exam and International Certificate B1 level from Linguaskill Exam in 2022.

  Normurodova Sokhiba Mallaevna a trainee assistant, Latin teacher at the Department of Languages, conducts practical classes in the Latin language and medical terminology, the author of more than 10 scientific articles and theses.

  Nasimova Sohiba Yaxyaevna a trainee assistant, an English teacher, at the Department of Languages, has 5 years of teaching experience, the author of 8 scientific articles and theses, actively works in the field of the English language. She has International C1 TESOL & TEFL Certificate Highfield Qualifications Level 5 Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Languages, TEFL Institute, at the platform Ireland in 2023.

  Azzamova Umida Alisherovna a trainee assistant, an English teacher at the Department of Languages for 6 months. During this period, conducts English and Medical terminology and the author of 5 scientific articles and theses. Azzamova Umida has Westminister College London, International C1 TESOL & TEFL Certificate Highfield Qualifications Level 7 Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, TESOL, at the platform in 2023.

  Abdusalimov Sukhrob Rustamovich – a trainee assistant, English teacher at the Department of Languages, has been participating in the educational process of the Department for 3 years. He conducts practice in English and Medical terminology  and the author of 5 scientific articles and theses. In 2023, he got TOEFL iBT, ETS, Teaching English as a Foreign Languages, USA C1 level Certificate.

  Kurbanova Rahima Abdullayevna has been working as an assistant at the Department of Languages for 5 months. Author of more than 15 scientific articles and theses. During this period, she has been teaching Latin and medical terminology to International students. She has got B2 level of Aptis certificate.

  Currently, The Department of Languages has 17 teachers, of these 3 Doctor of Philosophy in Philological Sciences PhD, 9 Latin teachers and 8 English teachers.
