History of the department

90-year history of the Department of Physics, biophysics and medical physics.

Nowadays, Medical and Biological Physics, which are taught in disciplines of medical universities of the country, include "Medical work", "Pediatric work", "Vocational education", "Dental work", "Medical-preventive work", "Medical biological work", Pharmaceuticals”,“ Higher Nursing ”and“ Folk Medicine ”play an important role in training specialists.

In 1930, the Uzbek State Medical Institute (UZMI) was founded. Classes began on September 1, 1930. In the first year of the institute's existence, classes were held at five theoretical departments (anatomy, biology, histology, physics, chemistry) and the department of languages. Lectures on physics were then read by Docent G.S. Kuznetsov to students. Until 1937, lectures and practical classes were conducted by the teachers of the Samarkand State University.

Kuznetsov Grigory Sergeevich was born in 1896 in the city of Saratov. In 1919 he graduated from the medical faculty of Saratov University. In 1919-1922, he participated in the Civil War. From 1922 to 1932, he worked as a radiologist in the city of Samarkand. Beginning in 1932, he began his activity at the Samarkand Medical Institute as the head of the department of physics, associate professor, and later opened a course in radiology, and until 1985 was in charge of this course. He died in 1986 in Samarkand.

From 1938 to 1942, the head of the department was DocentV.V. Pismenniy. Thanks to the initiative of DocentV.V. Pismenniy and assistant Sivolapov at the department in the same year a laboratory was organized, where students went to a full workshop. Students were taught by A.A. Kochnev, R.I. Sivolapov, A. Yu. Yusupov and others. In 1942, the head of the department was temporarily entrusted to Prof. A.M. Titov. In 1944, in connection with the departure of Professor A.M. Titov, DocentA.N. Tekuchev was temporarily invited. And from 1945 to 1954, the department was again headed by DocentV.V. Pismenniy. In 1945-1947, in addition to the already named employees, A.N. Tekuchev and Sh.Kh. Saidukov worked at the department, and V.V. Pismenniy.

Pismenniy Vladimir Vasilievich was born in 1886 in Tiflis. In 1908, he graduated from the Physics Department of Moscow State University. In 1909-1927, he worked in a secondary school. From 1927 to 1933, he was an assistant at the physics department of the 1st Samarkand Pedagogical Academy, in 1935-1954 he worked at the physics department of the Samarkand Medical Institute as an assistant, and then as an assistant professor and head of the department. He died in the city of Samarkand 1956.

From 1954 to 1987, the Department of Medical and Biological Physics was headed by docent R.M. Malikov.

Malikov Rasul Malikovich was born in the village "Tezguzar" of the Shafirkan district of the Bukhara region. From 1947 to 1952, he studied at the Physics Department of SamSU. In 1968, he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, at a specialized scientific council at the Institute of Nuclear Physics (INP) of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In 1970, he received the title of docent.

Gradually, the department began to expand, the staff increased and there were many changes. During this period, A.L. Lutfullaev, M.F. Babak, R.U. Muslimova, N.A. Yusupova, Sh.A. Aripov, Art. laboratory assistant Federmesser and laboratory assistant M. Surovtsev.

Already in the 1930s, a certain scientific research work was carried out at the physics department of SamMI. Theoretical aspects of heliodrying fruits and various methods of passing radiation through glass slopes were developed (Assoc. Prof. VV Pismenny). At about the same time, A.N. Tekucheva "On the absorption capacity of some metals, depending on their surface." In subsequent years, the author presented materials that help to solve practical problems on the basis of the relationship established by him between the effective intrinsic and reflected radiation.

It should be emphasized that one of the first major works carried out at the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan was the study of R.M. Malikov. It is devoted to the development and application of the neutron activation method for the determination of various trace elements in biological fluids and tissues. The significance of this radioactivation method has especially increased in recent years, when it has gained wide acceptance not only among analysts, but also among physicians and biologists. A.L. Lutfullaev studied the working conditions of medical personnel in X-ray rooms, radiological departments, medical institutions in Samarkand, M.F. Babak assessed the biological effect of ultraviolet rays.

Since 1968, associate professor M.R.Malikov began to replenish the department with young specialists such as Sodikov Naim Ochilovich (1968), Umarov Kuchim Umarovich (1969), Abraev Chori Abraevich (1970), Khalikov UbaydulloKhachikovich (1971), etc. During 1970 -1980 Assoc. Malikov R.M., Sodikov N.O., KhalikovU.Kh. carried out work to determine the amount of micro and macro elements, as well as the physical properties of blood vessels and musculature of the heart, as a result of these works, they presented reports in conferences and published the results in various collections as scientific articles. In 1981 Sh.A. Aripov defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of biological sciences in Ashgabat. He, together with the staff of the central scientific laboratory of the institute and the department of pathological physiology, conducted research work on the direction of the action of radiation in the blood of dogs in the conditions of the city of Samarkand.

Sh.A. Aripov was born in 1937 in the Dzhambay region. In 1961 he graduated from the Physics Department of SamSU. Since 1964 he has been an assistant at the Department of Medical and Biological Physics of SamMI, 1970 is a senior teacher of the department. In 1982, he was a candidate of biological sciences, from 1983 to 1987, associate Professor of the Department, and from 1988 to 1995, Head of the Department of Medical and Biological Physics of SamMI and he was the author of over 60 scientific, educational, methodological, popular science articles. In 1980-1990, 6 members of the department defended their Ph.D. theses in the central cities of the country.

Including Sodikov N.O., after completing an extramural postgraduate study in 1985 at the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, he defended his Ph.D. thesis on the topic: "Diffraction processes at small transmitted impulses in the two-gluon exchange model." Sodikov N.O. in his scientific research carried out some work on two-quark and three-quark systems, born approximations in quantum chromodynamics, on exclusive and inclusive diffraction. The results were presented at the XX International Conference on High Energy Physics (Paris, 1982), reported at scientific sessions of the Nuclear Physics Academy of Sciences (Moscow, 1982-1983), scientific seminars of DLNP JINR (Joint Institute for Nuclear Research). In subsequent years (1988-1992) head. Department of Associate Professor Sh.A. Aripov and Assoc. N.O.Sodikov, in order to improve the scientific and methodological activities of the department, made reports at conferences of the teaching staff of the departments of physics of medical universities and agricultural universities with the participation of representatives of Central Asia and Kazakhstan.

K.U. Umarov in the city of Moscow in 1983 ,O.N. Normurodov in 1985 in Chelyabinsk, in 1989 Moscow,M.A. Abdurakhmonov, in 1990, Krasnoyarsk U.Kh. Holikov defended their Ph.D. theses. Over the past three decades, the scientific potential of the department has increased dramatically.
