On 24 January, the rector of Samarkand State Medical Institute held a meeting with the vice-rector for youth affairs and spiritual and educational work, deputy deans, psychologists, department staff, members of the Council of Young Scientists and activists of the Youth Union.

  At the meeting, goals were set to materialize the presidential decree “On measures to radically improve the system of work with youth in makhallas”, signed on January 19, 2022 (Note: “Makhalla” is a local self-government body). In particular, concrete measures have been identified to develop a road map for the organization of meaningful leisure time of schoolchildren of mahallas under SamSMI in Koshrabat, Urgut and Pastdargom districts, as well as students of SamSMI.

  Opinions were exchanged on how to increase the activity of students by involving them in various sports, artistic and scientific clubs. At the same time the essence of current reforms was explained and expected final results were analyzed.

  It should be noted that SamSMI is now considering the possibility of awarding grants to students who have been actively involved in the life of society and the institute during the year and have achieved the highest academic performance. SamSMI is also planning to increase quotas for the rector's scholarship.
