Training and Simulation Center of Obstetrics and Gynecology

  Simulation center in the subject of obstetrics and gynecology is a new model of education that implements innovative forms of training in medical education and the target setting of practicing practical skills and abilities through the functioning of simulation rooms, training rooms with the use of phantoms, moulages, virtual robotic mannequins VI-generation.

  The emergence of opportunities for simulation education of students in the direction of obstetrics and gynecology is a new, promising and necessary direction.

  The use of new indicator stimulators in obstetrics will allow students not only to observe, but also to carry out all practical skills independently and solve different situations during labor.

  Goals of the simulation center:

  Realization of professional skills in students in the subject of obstetrics and gynecology

  Objectives of the simulation center:

  • Formation of professional skills and improvement of psychological readiness of students to work with patients who applied to obstetrician-gynecologists;
  • Evaluation of the correlation of theoretical and practical knowledge of students in the subject of obstetrics and gynecology;
  • Evaluating the tactics used by the student in case of contingencies in obstetric complications;
  • Formation of skills to work in a team of obstetrician-gynecologists.

  The simulation classroom consists of 4 zones:

  • Sanitization and preparation area
  • Obstetric zone
  • Zone of primary treatment and resuscitation of newborns
  • Gynecological zone

    Obstetric area

  These are modern principles of pregnancy management, fetal assessment techniques, basic labor protocol and normal biomechanism of labor. It includes:

  Obstetric aids and operations that the student will be able to demonstrate:

  • external and internal obstetric examinations (measurement of pelvic and pelvic dimensions);
  • normal and pathologic biomechanism of labor;
  • Tsovianov's allowance for pelvic presentation 1 and 2;
  • assessment of the shape and size of the fontanelle, the location of the sutures on the fetal head;
  • Normal, abnormal breech and fetal positions;
  • Fetal extraction using obstetric forceps and vacuum extractor;
  • manual separation and extraction of the afterbirth;
  • manual inspection of the uterine cavity in case of placental defect and bleeding.
  • Episiotomy and episiorrhaphy;
  • cesarean section operation demonstration of instruments for the operation.

  Obstetric emergencies

  • shoulder dystocia;
  • preterm labor (principles of management);
  • severe pre-eclampsia;
  • eclampsia;
  • obstetric hemorrhage;

  Neonatal primary care and resuscitation area

  This is the area for the primary care of newborns. In case of necessity of primary resuscitation, principles of respiratory support, infusion therapy in newborns, teamwork, medical care of newborns with malformations in the delivery room.

  Gynecologic area

  These are the modern principles of management of gynecologic patients. It includes:

  • gynecologic methods of examination.
  • swabbing for laboratory examination.
  • abrasio cavi uteri demonstrating instruments.
  • IUD insertion and removal techniques.

  When conducting a practical lesson in the simulation room, the instructor will be able to assess the ratio of theoretical and practical knowledge of students on the subject.
