Samarkand State Medical University traditionally holds the international Olympiad of medical students "Samarkand-2020". And this year, this prestigious competition was organized at the highest level.

  Representatives of more than twenty countries took part in the international Olympiad, which took place on December 13-14 this year, including Germany, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Belarus, and the Republic of Korea. The event was attended by more than 730 participants offline and 4,000 online, including students, rectors of foreign medical institutions, professors, and employees of foreign medical universities. The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan Asilbek Xudayarov, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan Kongratbay Sharipov, the Rector of the Samarkand State Medical University Jasur Rizaev and the rectors of a number of foreign medical universities, who noted the importance of the international Olympiad held for the fifth time and wished good luck to all its participants.

  In the main part of the International Olympiad, held in Uzbek, Russian and English, the participants competed in two stages in more than 40 areas of medicine, demonstrating their theoretical knowledge and practical skills. More than 730 students who took part in the traditional mode tested their knowledge and skills with the help of 7th generation robot simulators that meet the requirements of world standards. As part of the Olympiad, an international Olympiad was also held between students of the Abu Ali ibn Sina Colleges of Public Health and foreign medical colleges. In addition, foreign and leading specialists of our republic organized master classes for students on fundamental sciences, methods of scientific research and other topical issues of modern medicine, and lectures by rectors of foreign medical universities were held for bachelors, masters, doctors and clinical residents. And various sports games were held among the students.

  At the closing ceremony of the Olympiad, the winners and prize-winners of 1, 1 and 3 places and nominations, as well as active participants were awarded diplomas, certificates and memorable gifts.

  The international Olympiad, organized by the Samarkand State Medical University, serves not only to assess the knowledge and potential of medical students, encourage their talents and creative endeavors, but will also make a significant contribution and become a platform for strengthening international friendly ties, exchanging ideas and experience.
