Our native language is very important, as it reflects our national statehood and values. Since October 21, 1989, we have been celebrating the day of assigning the Uzbek language the status of a state language as a holiday.
Today, on the occasion of the holiday, a ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to Alisher Navoi, who made a great contribution to the development of our language, was held in Alisher Navoi Park in Samarkand. The event was attended by the leaders of the city of Samarkand, representatives of the public, higher education institutions and students. Representatives of the Samarkand State Medical University took an active part in the festive celebrations.
Speakers at the event talked about the greatness of our native language, its past and present, the importance of our language in the development of society and the state, and congratulated those gathered on the 35th anniversary of assigning the status of a state language to the Uzbek language. During the celebrations, poems and songs were performed glorifying the richness and beauty of the native language.
