On 26 July 2023, the Department of Neurosurgery of Samarkand State Medical University organised an international scientific-practical seminar "Modern methods of pain syndrome treatment" with the participation of Edip Gönüllü, professor of the Medical Faculty of Izmir Bakırçay University (Turkey). It was actively attended by about 40 specialists, including neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuropathologists, master's students, clinical residents and undergraduate students.

  Thus, Professor Edip Gönüllü presented his experience in reducing and eliminating pain in spine and joint diseases, trigeminal neuralgia and neuralgia of other peripheral nerves, phantom pain observed after amputation using modern methods on various clinical examples at the seminar.

  During the programme, the participants were introduced to the principle of operation of the radiofrequency ablation device, which is currently used for anaesthesia in neurosurgery, and a master class on the use of the apparatus and its electrodes was held.

  Head of the Department of Neurosurgery of SamSMU, PhD, Associate Professor M.A. Aliev, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor A.Sh. Shodiev and Assistant Z.T. Khusanov used this apparatus in practice.

  The seminar was held in a warm atmosphere and many questions of the participants were answered on the basis of personal experience and clinical cases from the guest's practice.

  At the end of the seminar the Department of Neurosurgery of SamSMU and Izmir Bakırçay University (Turkey) agreed to co-operate on training, development of functional neurosurgery and conducting operations directly in the clinic of our university
