Pediatric neurosurgery are being introduced in the neurosurgery department and clinics of Samarkand State Medical University

  On June 27, 2023, a seminar and a master class, attended by Alexander Kim - a doctor of the highest category, DSc, associate professor of the neurosurgery department, head of pediatric neurosurgery department of the National Medical Research Center named after A.A. Almazov (St. Petersburg, Russia), were held at the neurosurgery department of Samarkand State Medical University.

  At this scientific-practical seminar, reports on the most topical problems of pediatric neurosurgery and modern methods of examination and treatment of patients were presented.

  Alexander Kim is a specialist with a great experience of work with children and teenagers suffering from cerebral palsy, various deformities, brain tumors and congenital defects; he has successfully performed more than 2500 operations.

  The presentation about scientific programs in neurosurgery at the  National Scientific and Research Center named after V.A.Almazov aroused great interest among the participants, and many questions were answered based on personal experience and real examples. M.A. Aliev, associate professor and head of neurosurgery department, PhD, also spoke at the seminar, in his presentation he talked about high-tech operations, which are currently performed at Samarkand State Medical University Neurosurgery Clinic, as well as plans for the future, and also he shared his views on surgical treatment of hand and leg deformities in children with infantile cerebral palsy.

  In the framework of the event, examination of patients with the participation of Alexander Vongievich was organized for the representatives of the population living in different districts of Samarkand region. Around 30 patients with infantile cerebral palsy, brain tumors and congenital brain malformations, stenosis of the spinal canal were examined and received qualified medical advice.

  It should be emphasized that such an exchange of experience was useful both for practicing specialists and for undergraduate masters, clinical residents, and bachelor students. 

  More than 30 specialists, including neurosurgeons, master's and clinical residents, and bachelor students took an active part in the international seminar.
