I International Medical Forum Uzbekistan-Germany in Samarkand

On May 26, the 1st Uzbekistan-Germany International Medical Forum started at the congress center of the Great Silk Road international tourism complex in Samarkand.

The prestigious conference, held at the initiative of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, was attended by representatives of ministries, specialized scientific and practical medical centers, medical universities and regional medical centers of the republic, authoritative scientists and specialists of prestigious medical centers in Germany, heads of large pharmaceutical enterprises and investors. The work of the forum was carried out in a traditional and online format.

The forum was opened by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Zhamshid Khojayev. Then the Minister of Health of Uzbekistan Amrillo Inoyatov spoke, congratulating everyone on participating in such an authoritative forum. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to our country Tilo Klinner, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Germany Nabizhon Kasimov, Chairman of the German-Uzbek Medical Society "Koch Avitsenna" Helmut Khan, Director of the Regional Branch of the German Development Bank ("KfW") Andreas Schneider, head of the representative office of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Uzbekistan Joachim Fritzlar also noted important aspects and prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the medical field.

Germany is a reliable and strategic partner for Uzbekistan. In recent years, multifaceted relations have been rapidly developing, based on strong friendship, mutual respect and trust. It is worth noting here that the visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Germany on May 2-3 of this year opened a completely new page in bilateral relations between the countries.

The international forum considered a number of issues related to the expansion of international medical cooperation, digitalization of the sphere, the development of medical tourism, the expansion of investment projects, the implementation of joint programs in medical education, and areas of traditional medicine. The availability of convenient infrastructure and necessary conditions in our country, the fact that the rights of investors are enshrined in law, the increasing interest of foreign investors from year to year serve to increase the volume of investments in our republic. It was also noted that all opportunities and conditions will be created for investors and entrepreneurs to turn Uzbekistan into the capital of medical tourism for 120 million residents of Central Asian countries, and in this regard, today's international medical forum will create a solid foundation for the further development of bilateral cooperation in the Uzbekistan-Germany format.

During the conference, the director of the Clinic of Neurosurgery of Heidelberg University Andreas Unterberg was awarded the title of "Honorary Professor" of Samarkand State Medical University. Also, the Memorandum of Cooperation with the University of Freiburg was signed by Samarkand State Medical University.

On May 27, the international conference will continue its work.
