On 24 March, a meeting was held at Samarkand State Medical University in the frame of "Prevention of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense" month. The meeting was held with participation of Department of Emergency Situations and Training Centre officers, university department staff, teachers, tutors and students.

  Thus, the lecturer of Educational and Methodical Centre of Life Safety A.Turdikulov and employees of Emergency Situations Department spoke about the basics of safe handling of electric and gas appliances, fire extinguishers and their proper use in case of fire. The prohibition of use of improvised heaters and the need to comply with fire safety was also noted at the meeting.

  The slides with detailed information on recent natural disasters, including floods and mudslides in the regions of the country and the consequences of the earthquake in the Republic of Turkey were shown  to meeting participants  .

  Faculty tutors who participated in the meeting were instructed to examine each student's place of residence (in rental housing, dormitories) for earthquake resistance and to take appropriate measures to prevent the occurrence of different emergencies.

  At the end of the event, the students received answers to their questions from the field staff.
