III Congress of neurosurgeons of Uzbekistan was held on May 27 in Samarkand State Medical University, on the initiative of Asian Congress of Neurosurgeons. Neurosurgeons from over 15 countries, including Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Japan, Turkey, Korea, Italy, France, Germany, Turkmenistan, Malaysia and Uzbekistan took part in the forum.
Neurosurgery Congress was held in Samarkand in connection with Samarkand State Medical University rich experience in neurosurgery and neurorehabilitation and 80th anniversary of the birth of prominent scientist, Director of the Center of Neurosurgery and Neurorehabilitation of the University, DSc, Professor Abdurakhmon Mamatkulovich Mamadaliev.
At the opening ceremony of the Forum, the Samarkand State Medical University Rector Prof. Jasur Rizaev, Director of the Scientific Research Institute of Neurosurgery of Uzbekistan Prof. Gairat Kariev and other speakers noted the contribution of Samarkand neurosurgery school and Prof. Abdurakhmon Mamadaliev to the development of national neurosurgery, current achievements and prospects of this branch of medicine. It was also noted that the establishment of "Scientific and Practical Center of Neurosurgery and Neurorehabilitation" at Samarkand State Medical University will become a new step in developing the standards of step-by-step methods for neurorehabilitation of patients, training and retraining of qualified specialists through clinical internship, masters and doctoral studies.
After the plenary session, the main work of the forum continued in sectional meetings where lectures and discussions were held on topical issues of spine neurosurgery, pediatric neurosurgery, vascular neurosurgery, peripheral nervous system, neuro-oncology and functional neurosurgery. The conference also included the contest of young scientists, where the young talented researchers were identified and awarded with the corresponding certificates and diplomas.
The Congress of neurosurgeons of the country with international participation that took place in Samarkand State Medical University will undoubtedly serve for further development of neurosurgery and neurorehabilitation in the republic and the region, further increase of the quality of fundamental and clinical sciences teaching, training of qualified medical personnel and strengthening of international partnership relations of universities and research centers of the republic.
