Khalikov Kakhkhor Mirzaevich Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor, graduated from the biomedical faculty of the 2nd Moscow Medical Institute. Since August 2017 he has been working as the head of the department. In 1930, the department of "general chemistry" was created. Until 1933, the head of the department was prof. N.L. Merkulovich. in 1933-1936 the department was headed by Professor L.N.Parfentiev.
Since 1938, the department was called the "Department of Inorganic Chemistry" and until 1946 it was headed by Associate Professor A.A. Shamshurin. Over the years, the staff of the department conducted research in various areas of inorganic chemistry and published more than 30 scientific articles, one Ph.D thesis was defended.
1946-1964 The department was headed by Associate Professor S.F. Babak. Under his leadership, the department carried out research work on the topic "complex compounds of alkaloids of pyrimidine derivatives"
The Department of Biochemistry was established in 1930, from 1931 to 1961 the department was headed by Professor L.N. Lapin. During this period, the staff of the department developed modern micromethods for the determination of sulfa drugs, vitamin C, cholesterol, chlorine salts, acetone in the blood.
In 1964, the Department of General Chemistry was merged with the Department of Biological Chemistry and was headed by Associate Professor I.G. Priyev.
During this period, members of the department dealing with organic chemistry developed a new method for the synthesis of carbazide and investigated the biological significance of trace elements. As a result, new conclusions were made that were important for practical health care.
In December 1977 the department was divided into the departments of bioorganic and physical chemistry, as well as bioorganic and biological chemistry. The Department of Bioorganic and Physical Chemistry was headed by Associate Professor Askarov K.A. During these years, the department paid even more attention to scientific research. As a result, the department prepared and defended 4 doctoral dissertations (K.A. Askarov, D.M. Ivninsky, M.D.Davronov, B.S. Mirzaev) and 12 candidate dissertations (S.T.Rashidova, I.M. Muratov, R.T. Tashmatova, Z.Yu. Yunusova, K.I. Iskandarov, M.F. Yulaev, R.A. Dmitrieva, D. Daniyarov, N. Tangiarikov and etc.). More than 450 scientific and educational - methodical articles and six monographs have been published. During this period, the members of the department were issued copyright certificates for 20 scientific discoveries, 2 patents, about 30 scientific reviews. The Department of Bioorganic and Biological Chemistry was headed by V.A. Blinov. The scope of scientific research was expanded, the attention of the department staff was paid to the study of issues of physiology and pathology of the vascular system on a scientific basis. As a result of these scientific studies, many scientific articles have been published, several copyright certificates have been received. 1 doctoral and 6 master's theses have been defended.
In September 1994, the Department of Bioorganic, Physical Chemistry was merged with the Department of Bioorganic and Biological Chemistry. The department became known as the Department of Bioorganic, Bioorganic and Biological Chemistry. The department was headed by prof. K.A. Askarov
From July 2012 to August 2017, the head of the department was Associate Professor K.T.Sovetov.
Since August 2017, the department began to be called the "Department of Medical and Biological Chemistry", the head of the department was Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor KM Khalikov.
Since August 2020, according to the new structure of the departments of SamMI, the Department of Medical and Biological Chemistry was divided into two separate departments: the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and the Department of Biological Chemistry. Associate Professor KM Khalikov was appointed head of the Department of Biological Chemistry.

SPIRITUAL AND EDUCATIONAL WORK;
The annual plan of the department was approved in August 2020, it basically contains 5 main sections:
1. Organizational work.
It discusses the results of spiritual, educational and educational work for the past academic year, as well as issues of approving the annual work plans of the department and group mentors for the new academic year. The head of the department KM Khalikov gives instructions to the members of the department. In addition, the issue of full implementation at the department of decrees, resolutions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers, resolutions, orders and modems of the Ministry on issues of the spiritual and educational sphere, as well as on the implementation of performing discipline is being considered.
2. Ensuring the priority of educational work in the preparation of spiritually harmonious specialists.
This section covers 10 main points, which are mainly aimed at educating young people in the spirit of patriotism, deep thinking and morality. In paragraph 5 of this section, the philosophy of a healthy lifestyle is formulated, the organization of round tables on topics such as the basics of higher education and upbringing, the preparation of booklets on the topic "Healthy lifestyle and education of youth" according to national values and traditions, concerning the protection of human health, organizing a meeting of students with famous athletes, prize-winners of sports competitions, the Universiade, sports veterans and round tables on the harmful effects of drug use, alcoholism, tobacco, organization of evenings. The instructors of the groups of the department will be given appropriate instructions on the need to increase the activity of students in the prevention of the above phenomena,, which negatively affect human health.
In order to increase students' interest in art on issues of artistic and aesthetic education, the creation of artistic groups by types of amateur singing, ensuring participation in the republican competition of folklore and ethnographic ensembles, stimulating the creation of artistic spectacular songs imbued with a sense of devotion to the Motherland, involvement in its fate. The group's mentors will be given appropriate recommendations on the need to attract students to various republican competitions.
Each mentor holds separate meetings and lectures with his group on how to motivate students for honesty, economic and environmental education, encouraging people to work right, live honestly.
3. Establishing cooperation with educational institutions, parents, makhallas, state and public organizations in the formation of a person loyal to the principles of independence of Uzbekistan and capable of making a worthy contribution to the development of society.
4. National values and traditions For the "day of spirituality and enlightenment" topics and necessary materials will be prepared on national values and traditions, propaganda of the rich heritage of our ancestors
In honor of May 9 - the day of memory and honors, the head of the department K.M. Khalikov and prof. KA Askarov in the large lecture hall of the department speaks to students with a lecture on the terrible days that happened in 1941-1945 on the topic "human value and its memory is sacred."
5. Organization of leisure time for youth.
Scientific circles were organized, aimed at meaningful spending of students' leisure. In addition, the teachers of the department during the year on the set days of each month performed night shifts in hostels, where they carried out educational, spiritual and educational work with students.
At the beginning of the academic year, the group mentors are in close contact with the students assigned to them, work plans are agreed upon to be completed during the academic year. Based on the plan, various activities are held with mentors and students, the results of the work done are reflected in albums and disks.
In pursuance of 5 initiatives put forward by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to improve the spirituality of young people and organize their free time, the students of the department must deeply absorb the ideas of independence, the spirit of high spirituality and devotion to the national traditions of mankind, bring up a physically healthy, spiritually developed, independent, faithful Motherland, committed, resilient youth.
Also, in order to improve the work carried out in the spiritual, educational and educational sphere, to protect student youth from various trends and illusions alien to our society, as well as to ensure constant vigilance in the team and increase the responsibility of the teaching staff of the department, approved by order of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary special education of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated July 31, 2017 No. 526 " Regulations on the organization of spiritual and educational work in a higher educational institution "also, in order to ensure the fulfillment of the tasks determined by order of the Ministry of August 23, 2017 No. 600, as well as the letter of the Ministry of February 02, 2019 No. 87-04-249, deans of the Faculty of Pharmacy and dental faculties in accordance with Appendix No. 1 " on the creation of a mentoring council at the faculty in the 2021-2022 academic year and the appointment of group mentors "approved by the mentors of groups of students of the faculty of the Department of Biological Chemistry:
Group mentors must: - Timely fulfill the requirements of the "standard criterion" for assessing the activities of group mentors, according to the letter from the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education with Attachment No. 87-04-249 dated 02.02.2019; - at the beginning of each academic year, drawing up annual work plans and timely implementation of activities determined by the plan, generating complete information about each student in the group;
- Timely provision of execution of decrees, resolutions, orders of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers, orders of the ministry and local authorities and the rector of the institute for educational activities;
- increasing the level of adherence to the rules of student behavior, a thorough analysis of continuity and assimilation, involvement in public work;
- to have information about the personal interests of each student, to be interested in spending free time, to constantly communicate with parents;
- mentors are entrusted with the tasks of identifying talented students, attracting them to scientific and creative circles. In connection with the announcement of 2021 by the President of our country as the " The Year of Supporting Youth and Strengthening the Health of the Population", spiritual work at the department was further developed. In the "information hour", which is held on Thursdays of each week, in order to develop the spiritual perfection of the individual, conversations are constantly held on topics of spirituality, spirituality of students, religious tolerance. With the participation of employees of the department for combating human trafficking of the regional police department, the regional customs, religious control and the regional AIDS center, an event was held on the topic "Human trafficking - the plague of the century", which demonstrated a video film about the negative consequences of human trafficking.
National holidays, birthdays of historical figures and great ancestors were constantly celebrated. In particular, such holidays as "Independence holiday", "Day of teachers and mentors", "language holiday", "Kurban hait", "Motherland defenders day", "International Women's Day", "Navruz holiday", "Remembrance Day and honors ".
EDUCATIONAL AND METHODOLOGICAL WORK
Educational and methodological work at the department is organized in accordance with educational regulatory documents of the Republic of Uzbekistan:
1. Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan on education (August 29, 1997).

3. "Regulations on higher education" approved by the Ministry of January 9, 2003
4. State educational standards in all educational areas.
5. Curricula for all educational areas, approved by the ministry. 6. Standard and work programs in subjects.
7. "Regulations on the rating system of monitoring and assessing students' knowledge" approved by order of the Ministry No. 204 of 2009 with amendments based on the order of the Ministry No. 333 of 2010.
8. Order of the rector of SamMI No. 43 dated September 12, 2013 "On the organization of the educational process at the institute on a modular training system."

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
The scientific directions of the department are carried out in cooperation with large scientific centers of the CIS countries and far abroad. (Moscow, Ivanovo, St. Petersburg, Kiev, Tel-Aviv, London, Saratov) according to the results of the research work carried out by the staff of the department during these years, 7 doctoral dissertations, 35 candidate dissertations were defended, 17 monographs were published, more than 1800 scientific and educational - methodical articles, more than 100 copyright and rationalization certificates, a gold medal of the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy in 1985 for achievements in science.
The scientific work carried out by the scientists of the department has always been closely related to the training of scientific and pedagogical personnel and the requirements of practical health care, and is also aimed at solving problems determined by the state program for the development of science and technology "protecting the health of mothers and children, developing methods of diagnosis, treatment and prevention taking into account regional peculiarities ".
Based on the results of the research work completed over the past 3 years, 1 PhD thesis was defended by the assistant of the department A.K. Baykulov, the staff of the department published more than 60 scientific works, 12 abroad, including 3 articles on the Scopus platform The department carries out its scientific activities according to agreements-memorandums with the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy, Research Institute of Parasitological named after Isaeva (Samarkand), departments of SamMI. In particular, assistant Fayzullaeva H. B. as an independent researcher conducts scientific work on the topic "predictive informativeness of clinical and laboratory parameters in newborns with asphyxia", which will be protected in 2021. Assistants Baykulov A.K., Sattarova H.G., Tashmurodov D.A. and master of the department Akhmedov A.S. topics of their scientific research are carried out jointly with the staff of the Research Institute of Parasitology and them. Isaeva (Samarkand).
The results of scientific works are published in prestigious journals as articles. It should be noted that for the first time in the history of the department in the 2021-2022 academic year, thanks to the efforts of the SamMI leadership in cooperation with the Belarusian State Medical University, a competition for a master's degree in medical biochemistry was announced and Akhmedov Amed Suyunovich successfully passed the exams and became a resident of the Master's program in the joint program. In a short time Akhmedov A.S. in cooperation with Research Institute of Parasitological named after Isaeva began work on his master's thesis on "Development of methods for the diagnosis of chronic inflammation of the small intestine based on cytokine status."
