On May 27, 2022 at Samarkand State Medical University the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Health protection of women, mothers and children" started its work. The International conference was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department #2 and memory of famous doctor and organizer of healthcare, a devoted disciple of the founder of Samarkand school of obstetrics and gynecology, academician I.Z. Zakirov, who for many years headed the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department #2, Mukhsin Khamidovich Khamidov, DSc, professor.
Heads and leading scientists of medical universities and scientific centers of Russian Federation, Tajikistan, United Arab Emirates, Kyrgyz Republic and Uzbekistan took part in international scientific-practical conference.
At the opening of the international conference guests, in particular Elmira Basitkhanova - Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Zhasur Rizaev - Rector of Samarkand State Medical University, DSc, Professor, Zhanna Pakhomova - President of Association of Obstetricians-Gynecologists of Uzbekistan, DSc, Professor (Tashkent, Uzbekistan), Askerov Arsen - President of Association of Obstetricians-Gynecologists of Kyrgyz Republic, DSc, Professor, Haidarsho Kurbanov - Director, Institute of Gastroenterology of Tajikistan, DSc, Professor (Dushanbe, Tajikistan) warmly addressed to the participants, told about formation of school of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Samarkand State Medical University and its prominent representatives, expressed their opinion about importance of obstetrics and gynecology in preserving health of women, mothers and children, priorities of its development and significance of international contacts among researchers. Speakers emphasized importance of improving the quality of medical services to mothers and children, the conference had not only scientific but also practical importance for exchange of views on issues related to women's, mothers' and children's health.
After the plenary session, the international conference continued in sections. More than 100 reports were made on the innovative diagnostic and treatment methods in obstetrics and gynecology, child and teenage gynecology, operative and aesthetic gynecology, women health over 40 years old and actual problems of somatic diseases in women of reproductive age, as well as the results of scientific activity of young scientists.
The International Scientific and Practical Conference "Health protection of women, mothers and children" at Samarkand State Medical University will certainly contribute to development of obstetrics and gynecology in the region, further improvement of quality of teaching fundamental and clinical sciences, training of skilled medical personnel and international activity of medical universities of the republic.
