The academic building of the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics was completely refurbished and the opening ceremony was held on February 26, 2022 with the participation of the Rector of the Institute, Professor Zh.A.Rizaev and staff of the Rector's Office. In his speech, Professor Zh.A.Rizaev spoke about the conditions created for training students and conducting research work by the staff of the department, noted that the increasing number of patients treated for traumatological diseases, injuries of joints and musculoskeletal system indicates the need for modern medical equipment and the availability of such conditions in the building. Professor P. Urinbaev also spoke about the history and current activities of the department.
The Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics is located in the Samarkand branch of the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics. All classrooms are equipped with modern visual and thematic accessories, in particular, each classroom has a TV, computer (monoblock), printer, tables and chairs, bookshelves and closets, couches for examination of patients. The department corridor is illuminated with modern (3D) stands reflecting the history of the department and the educational process, demonstrating practical skills and providing information about the department's scientific activities (patents, manuals, monographs). More than 1000 students from 6 faculties of the Institute study in the Department. Platform mt.sammi.uz in Russian, Uzbek and English, created by the institute, to implement and monitor educational process is used during the learning period, the department has a constant connection to the Internet. In addition, the lecture hall and each classroom are equipped with a TV set that provides visual demonstration of surgical manipulations performed in the department. The necessary tools for mastering practical skills are available, and students have the opportunity to apply them directly in practice.
“Samarkand 2020” International Student Olympiad held at Samarkand State Medical Institute was rich of honors for members of the Student Scientific Society (SSS) of the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics, in p[articular they won three Ist places, four IInd places, six IIIrd places and eight nominations. A group of members of SSS of Traumatology and Orthopedics Department actively participated in International Student Scientific Olympiad organized by Bukhara State Medical Institute and took IInd, IIIrd places and received nominations.
On the opening day of the new building, staff of the department held sports competitions in lifting weights, arm wrestling and chess in order to ensure a productive leisure time in the Institute's dormitory №1. Rector of the Institute Zh.A. Rizaev solemnly congratulated the winners of the International Student Scientific Olympiad “Samarkand 2020”, organized in online and offline formats and the International Student Scientific Olympiad organized by the BukhSMI in the field of "Traumatology and Orthopedics. In addition, the members of the department organized a charity pilau (the rice soaked in stock or broth, adding meat, spices, and other ingredients) for students and participants in the event.
