On April 30, 2021 an International Scientific-Practical Conference "Lasers in Medicine and Biology" was held at Samarkand State Medical Institute in order to discuss the use of laser technology in medicine, implementation of innovative developments in practical healthcare, the organization and improvement of the quality of education in medical schools and development of international cooperation. Leading researchers from higher medical educational institutions and scientific-practical centres of Russia, Italy, Israel, Kazakhstan, Poland and Uzbekistan took an active part in the conference.
At the opening ceremony of the international scientific forum welcoming remarks to the participants were addressed by the Rector of SamSMI Professor Jasur Alimjanovich Rizaev, Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Director of the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center of Dermatovenerology and Cosmetology Ulugbek Yusupkhanovich Sabirov (Tashkent, Sabilov (Tashkent, Uzbekistan), Rector of the Bashkir State Medical University Valentin Pavlov (Ufa, Russia), Head of the DEKA LASER office in Uzbekistan Gulnora Jakhangirovna Rasulova (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) and Rector of the Tashkent Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Education Kh. A. Akilov (Tashkent, Uzbekistan).
At the plenary session of the Conference the reports "Laser technologies in pediatric surgery (analysis of 20-year activity)" were presented by I.A. Abushkin, DSc, Professor of the South Ural State Medical University (Chelyabinsk, Russia), "New opportunities of laser surgery in RSSPMCEM" by A.F. Yusupov, DSc, Professors of Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Centre for Eye Microsurgery (Tashkent, Uzbekistan), "Areas of application of innovative DEKA lasers in modern medical practice" M.O. Yuldashev, Endocrinologist, certified specialist of Deka Laser Uzbekistan (Tashkent, Uzbekistan), "The role of media in medicine, positioning and promotion of healthy lifestyle" by B.S. Ikramova, Chief Editor of ANATOMICÁ magazine (Tashkent, Uzbekistan), "Rational treatment of vulgar acne" by S.S. Arifov, M.D, Professor of the Centre for Development of Professional Qualification of Medical Specialists (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) and "The place of laser coagulation in the complex treatment of venous malformations" by S.V. Sapelkin, DSc, National Medical Research Centre for Surgery named after A.V. Vishnevsky, DSc, A.V. Vishnevsky National Medical Research Centre for Surgery (Moscow, Russia).
So, the conference was mainly focused on sections "Lasers in surgery", "Laser technologies in dermatology and cosmetology", "Application of laser technologies in diagnostics and treatment of diseases" where more than 50 reports on actual issues of laser technologies and their application in practical healthcare were presented, in particular in surgery, dermatology, gynecology, cosmetology, neurology, dentistry and other fields of medicine.
The conference also included an exhibition of medicines, diagnostic and treatment equipment, which has generated keen interest among forum participants.
It should be noted that the International Scientific Conference "Lasers in Medicine and Biology" organized by Samarkand State Medical Institute will certainly contribute to improving the quality of medical training in Uzbekistan, introducing the developments of fundamental medicine into practical healthcare, further strengthening international cooperation of Uzbekistan's medical universities with leading foreign universities and research centres.
