The public holiday "14 January - The Day of Homeland Defenders" and 29th anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan was widely celebrated in Samarkand.
  So, representatives of the Samarkand State Medical Institute took an active part in laying flowers at the monument to the great statesman and military leader Amir Timur in Samarkand. The festivities continued with a solemn parade of military equipment and demonstrations by servicemen of the Armed Forces and law-enforcement agencies. A sports demonstration by young students was also held to mark the occasion.
  Undoubtly, the solemnity of the event, the combat posture and exemplary performance of military marching evoked great enthusiasm among the participants of the celebrations, and aroused a sense of pride in the nation's army, which stands firmly for peace and tranquility of our people.
