Samarkand State Medical University has already established ties with the University of Pittsburgh (USA) in the field of higher medical education, research and academic exchange programs.

  The University of Pittsburgh, according to international rating agencies, is among the world's top 200 medical universities due to the high quality of its medical education and research programs.

  In order to expand further the cooperation spheres, an official visit of SamSMU delegation headed by Rector Zhasur Rizaev to the University of Pittsburgh took place between 27 March and 7 April this year on invitation of American side.

The main purpose of the visit was to study experience of the University of Pittsburgh in organization of higher medical education and further enhancement of bilateral cooperation.

  During the visit to the University of Pittsburgh, the members of the delegation met with the administration of the School of Medicine (Faculty) to discuss ongoing and planned activities in all areas of cooperation.

  Particular attention was paid to the activities of the Simulation Center and Standardized Patient Education Center of Pittsburgh University, as well as the process of distance and traditional education.

  The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine has planned a number of activities in 2022 aimed at radical improvement and development of facilities and programs of higher medical education. Anantha Shekhar, medical adviser to the university, provided details on the ongoing innovations as well as the activities of the university's Centre for Basic Research.

  The talks concluded with an agreement on further expansion of cooperation between Samarkand State Medical University and the University of Pittsburgh in areas of academic mobility, exchange programs in scientific fields and development of facilities and equipment.
