On 4 April, the Samarkand State Medical University's Faculty of Pharmacy, together with the Information and Resource Centre, held a meeting with students entitled "Curious Reader" as part of the practical implementation of one of the five initiatives put forward by the President of the country.
The Vice-rector for youth affairs and spiritual and educational work E.S.Tangirov, dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy N.M.Shavazi spoke about the importance of reading in the formation of modern specialists, and IRC director D.Z.Mansurova pointed out the potential and book resources of the information and resource centre of the university. Poetess Zukhra Eshonkulova, member of Uzbekistan Writers Union, and poet Naim Nur, who recited poems from their works, also spoke at the meeting. In addition, teachers from Samarkand State Medical University shared their thoughts on the need to inculcate a culture of reading and the importance of books as a source of spirituality.
The meeting was also attended by a group of reading enthusiasts from the Istiklol mahalla in Samarkand, led by the leader of the youth organization, O. Faizullaev. All the active youth participants were presented with gifts and certificates of appreciation.
As part of the meeting, a book fair was organised in the lobby of the new academic building, where students and teachers were able to buy new books. At the end of the event, the participants took a joint photo.
