Every year, October 18 is celebrated as the Day of the City of Samarkand, and this year's celebration was enriched with another joyful event. A grand opening of a new academic building of the Samarkand State Medical Institute was held on October 18. The festive event was attended by leaders of the Samarkand region and city, rectors of higher educational institutions, representatives of public, as well as students and faculty of the institute.
Thus, the ceremonial part started with the play of the State Anthem. The regional khokim Erkinjon Turdimov congratulated workers and students of the institute with the new educational building and wished them success in training highly skilled medical staff for the healthcare system of the region. After that Professor Azamat Shamsiev spoke about the history of construction of the new building based on the Dublin University in Ireland. Rector of the institute Professor Jasur Rizaev expressed gratitude to the leadership of the country and the President for their constant attention to the educational process and noted that the improvement of material and technical base will create new opportunities for training staff and enhance the prestige of the institute in the global educational environment.
After the speeches and opening ceremony, guests viewed and expressed their admiration for the material and technical facilities created for holding classes in the newly built academic building of the Institute.
The launch of balloons with snow-white doves and a concert organized for the students also brought a special joyful mood to the participants.
