International Scientific Conference “Academy of Internal Medicine: The Latest Achievements” dedicated to the memory of Prof. Uktam Vakhabova

On October 8, 2021, the International scientific-practical conference “Academy of Internal Medicine: The Latest Achievements” was held in the Samarkand State Medical Institute. The conference was dedicated to the memory of Professor Uktam Karimovna Vakhabova (1928-2016), prominent organizer of healthcare, Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan, DSc. The conference was attended by over 400 staff members from leading medical educational institutions and scientific and practical centres in Russia, Belarus, the United States of America, Poland and Uzbekistan.

Thus, Amrillo Inoyatov - First Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, DSc, Professor (Tashkent, Uzbekistan); Jasur Rizaev - Rector of Samarkand State Medical Institute, DSc, Professor (Samarkand, Uzbekistan); Shavkat Karimov - Director of Republican Specialized Center of Surgical Angioneurology, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan, DSc, Professor (Tashkent, Uzbekistan); Yuri Belenkov - Academician of RAS, Founder and President of Russian Scientific Society of Cardiac Failure Specialists, DSc, Professor (Moscow, Russia); Azamat Shamsiev - Professor of Department of Pediatric Surgery №1 of Samarkand State Medical Institute, DSc (Samarkand, Uzbekistan); Madina Kadyrova - Head of Ultrasound diagnostics Department of NSRC of Surgery named after A.Vishnevsky, Professor Emeritus of SamSMI (Moscow, Russia); Rakhmon Mukhamadiev - Hero of Uzbekistan, Professor of Ophthalmology Department, Termez branch of Tashkent Medical Academy, DSc(Termez, Uzbekistan); Abdugaffor Gadaev - Professor of Internal Medicine Department No 3, Tashkent Medical Academy, DSc (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) and other participants welcomed and wished a successful work at the opening ceremony of the international conference.

So, reports of scientists and researchers on such urgent topics as “Heart failure - what's new? Updated recommendations”, “Modern concepts of carotid surgery in asymptomatic patients”, “Modern approaches to treatment of arterial hypertension: Setting the Emphasis”, “The Role and Place of Combination Drugs in Start Therapy of Arterial Hypertension”, “Topical Issues of Gastroenterology in Modern Medical Conditions”, “ARI and Antihistamines, Focus on Outpatient Practice”, “Differential Approach to Diagnosis and Treatment of Heart Failure with Anemia”, “Treatment of Acute Deep Vein Thrombosis with the New Oral Anticoagulant Rivaroxaban” were heard during the plenary session of the international scientific forum. Speakers also marked out life way, works and outstanding contribution of Prof. U.K. Vakhabova to development of healthcare system, who worked as rector of Samarkand State Medical Institute in 1966-1981.

The main work of the conference focused on sectional meetings to discuss pressing issues, such as ischemic heart disease, innovative technologies in cardiology diagnostics and treatment, current issues in pulmonology, gastroenterology, rheumatology and nephrology and other areas of practical medicine, ways to improve healthcare in terms of Covid-19 pandemic, as well as issues concerning medical education and training.

he International Scientific-Practical Conference “Academy of Internal Medicine: The Latest Achievements”, organized by the Samarkand State Medical Institute, will undoubtedly contribute to improving the level of teaching fundamental and clinical disciplines in medical universities, further development of internal medicine and therapy in the republic and the region, training medical personnel in the republic, as well as further enhancement of international cooperation of medical universities and research centres of the republic.
