One of the key persons of Indian diplomacy, Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture of India, Meenakshi Lekhi, visited Samarkand State Medical Institute today.

  Opening the event, Rector of Samarkand State Medical Institute, Professor Jasur Rizaev said that ongoing reforms in higher education and healthcare in our country created a favorable environment for all foreign students studying medicine.

  So, Meenakshi Lekhi stressed that during her trip to Uzbekistan she was struck by our country's rich scientific and historical heritage and underlined the kindness and hospitality of our people.

  Accompanied by Mr Manish Prabhat, Indian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan, Ms Meenakshi Lekhi had an open dialogue with 80 Indian students studying at the Faculty of International Education of SamSMI.

  Thus, the distinguished guests of our institute familiarized themselves with educational conditions created in Uzbekistan, in particular, at Samarkand State Medical Institute, and personally witnessed how well the students had adapted to them, received information about the advantages and disadvantages of the educational process through Indian students.

  During the open talks, Meenakshi Lekhi said that her visit to Uzbekistan was not just a protocol visit and not a formality. She touched on the need to reflect a new level of Uzbek-Indian inter-state relations and emphasised the relevance of the knowledge gained by Indian students in Uzbekistan to Indian medicine.
