On June 2, 2021 an International methodological seminar on Psychological and Pedagogical Support for Children with Cochlear Implants was held at Samarkand State Medical Institute. The methodological seminar was co-organized by the National Specialized Scientific-Practical Pediatric Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan and “Med-El” company (Austria).
The purpose of the seminar was to discuss the progress made in recent years on the issues of children with hearing impairment. The seminar was focused on improvement of the effectiveness of research and development activities, exchange experiences, introduction of new developments in the field of surdopedagogy and, finally, improvement of the rehabilitation of children with hearing impairment. The seminar was attended by leading specialists in the field of treatment and rehabilitation of children with hearing and speech disorders from Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Uzbekistan.
So, Rector of Samarkand State Medical Institute, Jasur Rizaev, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Flora Inoyatova, Regional Director of “Med-El” (Austria), Head of Cochlear Implantation Programme in Uzbekistan Vladimir Primako welcomed the participants of the seminar at the opening ceremony.
During the seminar speakers gave master-classes on modern approach on rehabilitation of children with cochlear implants (CI) and hearing aids, organization of pedagogical activities with young children at the beginning of CI use, development of beautiful speech through singing. The presentations aroused a great deal of interest and discussion among the seminar participants.
At the end of the main part, awarding of certificates and a joint photo shoot were conducted.
The International Seminar “Psychological and Pedagogical Support for Children with Cochlear Implants” held at Samarkand State Medical Institute will undoubtedly contribute to the introduction of innovative developments in the field of applied medicine, further enhance the quality of teaching fundamental and clinical disciplines in medical universities and further develop international cooperation among medical universities and research centres of the republic.
