A memorandum was signed between the Samarkand State Medical Institute and the First State Medical University of Saint-Petersburg named after Academician I.P. Pavlov. Minister of Healthcare Abdukhakim Khodjibayev attended the ceremony.

   International scientific-practical conference "Interdisciplinary approach on diseases of head and neck" was held at Samarkand State Medical Institute. The main purposes of conference were discussion of topical issues on diseases of head and neck, involvement of young scientists to research activities, effective use of their scientific potential. Over 150 young scientists from the leading medical universities of Russia, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Turkey, India, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan took part in this Conference.

  The welcome speeches at the solemn opening ceremony of the international scientific forum were addressed to the participants by Amrillo Shodievich Inoyatov, First Deputy Minister of Healthcare of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Tashkent, Uzbekistan), Khabibulla Ataullaevich Akilov, Rector of the Tashkent Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Education (Tashkent, Uzbekistan), Nodir Kadyrovich Khaidarov, Rector of the Tashkent State Dental Institute, Dilyana Vicheva, Vice Rector of the Medical University of Plovdiv (Plovdiv, Bulgaria), Rector of Samarkand State Medical Institute Jasur Alimjanovich Rizaev (Samarkand, Uzbekistan), Gennady Egorovich Chmutin, Vice-President of Eurasian Association of Pediatric Neurosurgeons (Moscow, Russia), Fedor Fedorovich Losev, Director of Central Scientific Research Institute of Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery (Moscow, Russia), Konstantin Eduardovich Sobolev, Director of Moscow Scientific Research Clinical Institute (Moscow, Russia).

  So, reports on actual problems of head and neck diseases of scientists and researchers from the republic and abroad were presented at the plenary session of the international scientific forum. The main work of the International Conference was concentrated in 6 sectional sessions, where more than 100 presentations of young scientists on topical issues and modern achievements of diagnostics, treatment and prophylaxis of the head and neck diseases and innovative views of young scientists were made.

  The organizing committee of the international conference received more than 65 articles, which were published as a special collection in the international "Journal of Dentistry and Craniofacial Research".

  Also, on 21 May 2021 Samarkand State Medical Institute was visited by A.M. Khadjibayev, Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan and S.F. Bagnenko, Rector of the First State Medical University of Saint-Petersburg named after Academician I.P. Pavlov.

  Rector of one of the leading medical universities of Russia, Professor Sergei Fedorovich Bagnenko highly appreciated scientific and pedagogical potential of SamSMI and noted his readiness to assist in training of highly skilled personnel and further development of the scientific potential of the Institute. The ceremony of signing the Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation between Samarkand State Medical Institute and the First State Medical University of Saint-Petersburg named after Academician I.P. Pavlov took place with the participation of Minister of Health A.M. Khadjibayev. The Memorandum of Cooperation between the Samarkand State Medical Institute and First State Medical University of Saint-Petersburg named after Academician I.P. Pavlov, which was broadcasted online for the participants of the international conference, was signed. According to the document, the parties will cooperate in future exchange of information and specialists, development of academic mobility of faculty and students, and hold joint research, scientific conferences, seminars and symposia. During the visit,new academic building and the conditions created for teaching students at the institute were also shown to the guests.

  The conference became a kind of a discussion platform for the exchange of opinions on urgent issues and problems in the field of otorhinolaryngology, dentistry and maxillofacial surgery, ophthalmology, oncology, as well as neurosurgery and neurology of head and neck area. The conference will promote the popularization of scientific activities among young people, improvement of professional training of future highly qualified specialists, preserve and develop the common scientific and educational space of the CIS countries and establish scientific contacts between future colleagues.
