On February 22, an international scientific conference on innovative approaches to cardiac surgery started at Samarkand State Medical Institute.
So, director of the Institute of Heart of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Honored Doctor of Ukraine, Head of the Department of Cardiac Surgery, X-ray endovascular and extracorporeal technologies of National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education named after P.L. Shupik, professor Boris Mikhaylovich Todurov as well as professors and students of Samarkand State Medical Institute and specialists of the clinics of the Institute and Samarkand Regional Cardiology Dispensary took part in the international conference.
So, the conference was opened by Rector of Samarkand State Medical Institute, Professor Jasur Rizaev. The rector spoke about the current state of the healthcare system of the country, reforms in education, the role and importance of close cooperation with leading foreign medical institutions in the implementation of innovations in domestic medicine.

During the conference, Prof. Todurov gave lectures and seminars on the most crucial issues of cardiology and cardiosurgery, such as Bentall surgery, mitral and aortic valve replacement, pulmonary embolism, mammary coronary artery bypass surgery (MIDCAP), and mitral valve replacement in case of cardiac fibrillation.
Representatives of Ukrainian delegation, who were in Samarkand at that time, also performed a number of complex and innovative surgeries in Samarkand regional cardiology dispensary.
It should be noted that effective cooperation with foreign specialists is of particular importance in training qualified medical personnel in our country, improving the quality of education in medical schools and establishing the quality of medical services in accordance with international standards.
