Paternity Policy at Samarkand State Medical University Supporting Shared Childcare Responsibilities

Samarkand State Medical University (SSMU) is dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive environment that recognizes the importance of shared family responsibilities. Our Paternity Policy is designed to empower non-gestational parents by enabling them to actively participate in childcare duties, ultimately supporting women’s continued engagement and success within our university community.

Our Paternity Policy offers non-gestational parents the flexibility and time needed to support their families and take on active caregiving roles: SSMU provides paid paternity leave to non-gestational parents, ensuring they have dedicated time to bond with their child and support their partner during the postpartum period. In addition to standard paternity leave, we offer the option of extended unpaid leave to accommodate varying family needs, allowing non-gestational parents to continue providing essential childcare support.

To help parents balance their responsibilities effectively, SSMU offers flexible arrangements for non-gestational parents: Faculty, staff, and students who are non-gestational parents can access flexible work hours or study plans to accommodate childcare needs. For eligible roles and courses, SSMU provides remote or hybrid options, allowing non-gestational parents to fulfill their academic or professional commitments while actively participating in childcare.

  Family Support and Counseling Services

Recognizing that balancing childcare and professional responsibilities can be challenging, SSMU offers family support resources to help parents navigate this transition: Parenting Support Services: SSMU’s Family Support Office provides resources and referrals for childcare, family wellness, and parenting workshops. Counseling and Guidance: Through our counseling services, non-gestational parents can receive guidance on effectively balancing family responsibilities with their academic or career goals.

  Supporting Women’s Continued Participation

By empowering non-gestational parents to actively participate in childcare, SSMU’s Paternity Policy plays a vital role in supporting women’s continued engagement within our university: Creating Shared Family Responsibilities: Enabling non-gestational parents to take an active role in caregiving helps alleviate the caregiving burden on women, supporting their ability to pursue academic and professional success. Fostering a Family-Friendly Environment: SSMU’s policies promote a culture where both parents are supported, reinforcing gender equity and enabling all parents to participate fully in their academic and career aspirations.

Samarkand State Medical University is committed to supporting an inclusive environment where both gestational and non-gestational parents have the flexibility and support needed to balance family and university life. Our Paternity Policy is a key part of our dedication to gender equity, empowering all parents to engage in childcare duties and supporting women’s continued participation in education and professional pursuits.
