Lifelong Learning center (LLC) offers free access to educational resources

At Samarkand State Medical University (SSMU), our goal is to contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge and the health of our community. While the core of our resources is designed to serve our students and faculty, we recognize the value of sharing these resources with a wider audience. Here are the detailed ways in which non-students can access our educational materials:

  Library Access and Services

SSMU houses a well-equipped medical library that supports research and academic growth in various healthcare fields. For non-students such as healthcare professionals, researchers, or members of the public with an interest in medical science, the following options are available:

Guest Access to Library Collections: Individuals who are not enrolled at SSMU can request access to specific library resources. While full borrowing privileges are reserved for students, non-students can visit the library to read books, reference materials, and academic journals on-site. Special requests for access can be arranged by contacting the library administration ahead of time.

Research and Scholarly Assistance: Our library staff is available to assist non-student researchers in navigating our extensive collection of medical publications. Scholars from other institutions can collaborate with our library for research purposes, ensuring that SSMU’s academic resources contribute to broader research efforts.

Digital Libraries and Databases: We provide access to some open-source databases and e-journals that may be utilized by non-students. This includes publicly available academic publications and research papers authored by our faculty. These resources are invaluable for those pursuing independent research in medical fields.

Online Learning Resources

In an effort to democratize education, SSMU is continually expanding its digital footprint through online learning platforms. Here's how non-students can benefit from our online resources:

Open Access Lectures and Educational Content: Some of our recorded lectures and seminars are available to the public. These include educational videos, medical tutorials, and health-related content designed by our faculty. We aim to make more of this content available through our website, allowing non-students to benefit from expert knowledge in fields like anatomy, public health, clinical medicine, and more.

Free Online Courses and Modules: SSMU periodically offers free online courses or open educational resources (OER) in key medical disciplines. Our university has organized 144 hours of free classes for doctors on specialized work. These may be especially useful for medical practitioners, students from other universities, or anyone with an interest in healthcare. While more advanced courses are reserved for our students, introductory-level material may be accessible to a wider audience.

Access to Research Publications: As part of our commitment to sharing knowledge, we encourage non-students to explore the research output of our university. Many of our research publications are hosted on open-access platforms and are freely available to the public. This allows healthcare professionals and researchers to stay informed about the latest scientific developments in medicine and health sciences.

Public Events, Seminars, and Guest Lectures

SSMU actively fosters community engagement by organizing events that are open to the public. These events are designed to share knowledge with a broader audience and often address important healthcare issues. The following events and programs are regularly available:

Public Health Lectures and Seminars: Our faculty frequently hosts public lectures on health-related topics such as disease prevention, medical innovations, and global healthcare trends. These events provide the community with access to expert insights and are free to attend. Check our university website or social media platforms for announcements of upcoming events.

Workshops and Medical Conferences: SSMU occasionally holds workshops and conferences that are open to healthcare professionals and the general public. These programs focus on specific topics such as advances in medical technologies, best practices in healthcare, and contemporary medical challenges. Attending these events offers an excellent opportunity to learn from medical experts and interact with peers from other institutions.

Community Outreach and Health Education Programs

As part of our mission to promote public health, SSMU regularly engages in community outreach programs that provide free health education and services. These initiatives are targeted at different groups within the community, and many of them are open to the public:

Free Health Workshops: SSMU conducts health workshops focused on topics such as disease prevention, healthy living, and mental health awareness. These workshops are designed to educate the public on critical health issues and provide practical advice for maintaining wellness.

Public Health Screenings and Campaigns: Our university frequently participates in public health campaigns, offering free health screenings and consultations in collaboration with healthcare partners. These events allow members of the community to receive expert advice on their health while learning more about preventive measures.    Collaborative Projects with Local Schools and Organizations: We are actively involved in outreach programs with local schools, hospitals, and healthcare organizations to promote health literacy. These projects often include educational sessions for students and local communities, encouraging them to take a proactive approach to their health. Students and professors of our university conduct health classes in schools in Samarkand.

Collaboration with Other Institutions SSMU values collaboration and knowledge-sharing with other institutions and organizations, both locally and internationally. Through partnerships and exchange programs, we aim to extend access to our resources for a broader audience. This includes:

Collaboration with Healthcare Providers: Medical professionals from hospitals and clinics often work closely with our faculty and students on research projects, patient care initiatives, and professional development programs. This collaboration allows non-students in the medical field to benefit from our resources and expertise.  Academic Exchange Programs: Through partnerships with universities and research institutions, we facilitate the exchange of knowledge and resources. Scholars and researchers from outside SSMU are welcome to collaborate on research and access our library and facilities through formal agreements.
